Ingredients
  

For the Base

  • 1 (9-inch) frozen ready-to-bake pie crust (must be deep dish)
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1/2 medium yellow onion, diced (about 3/4 cup)
  • 1 teaspoon minced garlic

For the Filling

  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup half-and-half
  • 1/2 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 cup Swiss cheese, freshly grated
  • 1 cup sharp Cheddar cheese, freshly shredded

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 375°F
  • Place frozen pie crust on baking sheet and pre-bake for 10 minutes
  • Let crust cool briefly
  • Melt butter in pan over medium-high heat
  • Cook diced onions until translucent (3-5 minutes)
  • Add garlic, cook 30 seconds until fragrant
  • Remove from heat and let cool slightly
  • Whisk eggs in large bowl
  • Add half-and-half, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper
  • Stir in ham and both cheeses
  • Add cooled onion-garlic mixture
  • Pour filling into pre-baked crust
  • Bake on lower rack for 35-42 minutes until set but slightly jiggly
  • Let rest 5-10 minutes before slicing
  • Garnish with chives and bacon if desired
  • Serve warm or at room temperature
