- 5 fresh mint leaves, plus more for garnish
- 2 ounces white rum
- 1 ounce fresh lime juice (about 1 lime)
- ½ ounce simple syrup (or adjust to taste)
- Club soda or sparkling water, to top
- Lime slices, for garnish
Place 5 fresh mint leaves in the bottom of a cocktail shaker. Gently muddle the mint with a muddler to release its aroma and oils—do not shred the leaves.
Pour in 2 ounces of white rum, 1 ounce of fresh lime juice, and ½ ounce of simple syrup.
Add a handful of ice to the shaker. Secure the lid and shake well for about 10 seconds to chill and mix the ingredients.
Fill a highball glass with fresh ice. Strain the mixture from the shaker into the glass, leaving the muddled mint behind.
Add a splash of club soda or sparkling water to the glass, topping off your Mojito.
Garnish with extra mint leaves and lime slices. Serve immediately and enjoy!
