Ingredients

  • 5 fresh mint leaves, plus more for garnish
  • 2 ounces white rum
  • 1 ounce fresh lime juice (about 1 lime)
  • ½ ounce simple syrup (or adjust to taste)
  • Club soda or sparkling water, to top
  • Lime slices, for garnish

Instructions

  • Place 5 fresh mint leaves in the bottom of a cocktail shaker. Gently muddle the mint with a muddler to release its aroma and oils—do not shred the leaves.
  • Pour in 2 ounces of white rum, 1 ounce of fresh lime juice, and ½ ounce of simple syrup.
  • Add a handful of ice to the shaker. Secure the lid and shake well for about 10 seconds to chill and mix the ingredients.
  • Fill a highball glass with fresh ice. Strain the mixture from the shaker into the glass, leaving the muddled mint behind.
  • Add a splash of club soda or sparkling water to the glass, topping off your Mojito.
  • Garnish with extra mint leaves and lime slices. Serve immediately and enjoy!
