Ingredients

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour (White Lily is a great choice for its soft texture)
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon table salt
  • 1 cup (2 sticks) salted butter, softened at room temperature
  • 1 cup packed light brown sugar
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 3 cups (about 18 ounces) semi-sweet chocolate chips (plus extra for topping if desired)
  • Flaky sea salt (Maldon sea salt flakes are highly recommended for that perfect sprinkle)

Instructions

Electric Hand Mixer or Stand Mixer

  • To cream together the butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar. This ensures the mixture is smooth and fluffy before adding in the other ingredients.

Medium Bowl

  • For whisking or sifting together the dry ingredients such as flour, baking soda, and salt.

Large Bowl

  • To combine the wet ingredients and then mix in the dry ingredients until everything is perfectly combined.

Cookie Scoop or Tablespoon

  • To portion out the dough into perfectly sized cookies, ensuring uniformity in size and baking.

Baking Sheets

  • Prepare them with parchment paper or silicone liners to make cleanup easy and to prevent sticking.

Wire Rack

  • For cooling the cookies once they are out of the oven, allowing air circulation so they don't get soggy.
